About John Leland

Born and raised on the coast of New England, John Leland grew up enjoying the mountains and beaches that the region of the country had to offer. Once he graduated high school he pursued an accounting degree at Harding University, a small Christian college in Arkansas. Once he finished at Harding, he decided to pursue a Master of Accounting degree at Kennesaw State University. That degree and university experience then set him up to pursue his CPA, and after 18 months of studying and testing, he was successful!
John worked a few years in industry but then in April 2015 he pursued a calling to live overseas in New Zealand. During his two years there, he worked as the Regional Accountant for Hohepa Canterbury, a nonprofit that serves individuals with Down Syndrome and intellectual disabilities.
In May 2017, John and his family moved back to the Atlanta area as they awaited the birth of their second child. Once back, John pursued another job within the accounting industry but after six months into that role, he left to rise to the challenge of starting up his own accounting firm. Thus, The Honest Accountant, LLC was born in November 2017 and now exists to provide expert service that is focused on the needs of their clients above all else.
